Strengthening communities

Home / Sustainability / Strengthening communities

Our objective is to bring about transformative changes in the communities around us and we make significant investments in this direction.

Infrastructure

We have equipped the villages surrounding our operations with stable infrastructure. In Pedaveedu, Gundlapalli and other villages in Mattampally, we have aided the construction of roads, bus shelters, drainage systems, streetlights, water tanks, etc.

We provide cement at a concessional cost to selective people from the weaker sections of the society, to help them fulfil their dreams of building/reconstructing their houses.

Safe drinking water

Safe and pure drinking water is a challenge, especially in Nalgonda district, since the water contains a high concentration of fluoride. To provide drinking water to the people of Nalgonda, we installed two 1,000 litres per hour RO water plants in Pedaveedu and Mattampally. Today, around 3,000 families have access to free and safe drinking water. Moreover, we donated water tankers to Pedaveedu village to ease the problem of water scarcity.

We have provided borewells and constructed a water tank at Krishna Thanda and contributed to the construction of an overhead tank under ‘Mission Bhagiradha’ at Pedaveedu.

Skill development programmes

We initiated the SDS Programme for unemployed youth who have passed out from various streams. The objective of the scheme is to enable them to take up industry-relevant practical training, and provide courses for personality development and specialised skills, to help them secure jobs.

We also provide two years of employability skill development programme to educated youth, along with a stipend. The focus is on providing industrial exposure, on-job training and soft skill development.

Most of the youth trained through the SDS Programme gained employment in various industries after the completion of the two-year training period and are able to financially support their families.
