ESG Roadmap 2030 and Framework
The Roadmap defines targets for 11 focus areas of Sagar Cements and an action plan to achieve these goals, ensuring consistent progress. Our ESG Framework provides a structured approach to implementation, monitoring and reporting, enabling consistent performance across all operations. Together, these elements guide our efforts to create long-term value for stakeholders while managing risks in a responsible manner.
ESG Governance structure
At SCL, the Board’s Risk Management and ESG Committee drives the ESG priorities, including climate action and decarbonization plan implementation activities. It is also responsible for developing and overseeing climate-related strategies. It ensures effective oversight of the ESG Vision roadmap and its implementation. There is a strong leadership oversight with monthly reviews of material topics progress against ESG Roadmap targets, across all the plants and sets the direction for improvements. We drive our ESG roadmap using a top-down, bottom-up framework approach across all cement plants. While central targets set the course, plant-specific implementation is spearheaded by the Plant ESG Committees—led by Plant Heads—to address site-specific opportunities for improvement.
ESG Policies
We aim to conduct business with the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility. Our policies and frameworks are embedded with the principles of ecological and social awareness.
Transparency and stakeholder engagement
We believe effective communication is key to building a sustainable organisation. At Sagar Cements, we regularly engage with stakeholders to gather valuable insights, understand and meet stakeholder expectations and ensure sustained value creation. Continuous engagement helps us build trust and effective communication.
Double Materiality Assessment
We are committed to conducting materiality assessment every few years to ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations and address relevant issues. The assessment brings forth new issues which are then embedded in our ESG Framework, and reviews and improvements; strengthening our process and efforts with each exercise. In FY 2022, we conducted our first materiality assessment, followed by developing an ESG Framework and Roadmap 2030.
In FY 2026, we undertook a comprehensive Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The assessment aligned closely with our Enterprise Risk Management process and engaged a broader range of stakeholders to capture more diverse insights.
Integrated Report
Our Integrated Report provides a holistic overview of our financial and ESG performance during the year along with our efforts to create value for our stakeholders. It offers a thorough analysis of our strategy, governance and potential risks and opportunities and an update on our ESG Roadmap 2030. This Report is aligned with the Integrated Reporting (IR) Framework by the IFRS Foundation, covers a GCCA Index with Key Performance Indicators(KPIs) aligned with the GCCA Sustainability Charter. Further, the disclosures in this Report are aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, as well as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Standards for Construction Materials, and Metals and Mining.
Climate change and Decarbonisation pathway
We started measuring Greenhouse Gas (GHG) footprint in FY 2018-19, across our assets, aligned with the GHG Protocol. In 2022, we committed to the SBTi and mobilised a cross-functional team to oversee GHG accounting, target setting and engagement with SBTi. In December 2024, our GHG emission reduction targets were validated by SBTi.
